Cox honours the women forgotten throughout history, employing traditionally female crafts to tell their stories in thread, image and word. The pieces are a tribute to the women who have gone before, who have paved the way for craft-based artistic practice.  Signature artists and its’ companion piece After Image evoke forgotten artists through their autographs and artistic images. The remainder of the works pay homage to women once deemed important enough to grace ethnographic magazines their lives and stories long forgotten or perhaps passed on in family legend. Cox imagines these tales through poetry, etching the words to the paper with each pen stroke. Together the works sing the praises of past women and bring their image and words back to the present day.

These works were exhibited at AIRSPACE Projects in Sydney’s Marrickville in February 2023
