‘Finding a place’ consists of a series of charcoal rubbings taken of textured surfaces around the artists’ first share house in the Inner West of Sydney. Physical imprints of a place that allowed her to belong for the first time in years, the work explores words and feelings associated with the process of leaving home and finding your own place in the world. In this work the artist pays homage to the house that allowed for this belonging and to hopefully allows people to reflect on how physical space can allow for belonging and by extension, mental health recovery.
